Cleanwave.org

In order to counteract the local and global plastic pollution of our oceans and their far-reaching ecological consequences, Cleanwave.org creates awareness of the growing problem of single-use plastic, for instance with school projects and sustainable social events. In addition, in cooperation with public utilities Cleanwave.org has already installed the first public water fountains with free accessible drinking water in Palma, thus initiating the establishment of an island-wide network of public drinking water fountains to reduce the purchase of disposable plastic water bottles and with the aim that the consumption of these bottles will be legally regulated in the future.

To achieve the goal of making drinking water freely accessible and consequently contributing to a plastic-free society, the network of Cleanwave.org’s private and public partners is constantly expanding. The Balearic Islands with the islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Cabrera and Menorca are only the starting point for a global movement, which involves politics and industry to take the necessary measures at all levels to protect our environment, our oceans and ourselves from the plastic tsunami.

The internationally award-winning documentary “Out of plastic”, produced by Cleanwave.org in 2018, draws a frightening picture of the consequences of our daily, insatiable consumption of plastic with impressive pictures. It inspires to take responsibility for our unique planet and it is now freely available on the cleanwave.org – YouTube channel.
